Terms of Service

Last updated: August 25, 2026

1. Acceptance of These Terms

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of ego, including the Discord application, bot, user-installed application commands, website at https://ego.skin, and related features, services, and integrations (collectively, the “Service”).

ego is an independently operated Discord application and software service based in Poland.

By installing, inviting, accessing, or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

Discord is a third-party platform. ego is not owned, operated, endorsed, or affiliated with Discord except where Discord expressly states otherwise.

2. Description of the Service

ego is a Discord utility and context application. Depending on installation type, Discord permissions, configuration, access tier, usage allowance, and feature availability, the Service may provide:

  • Discord utility commands and user, server, channel, and role information;
  • profile, avatar, banner, identity, and history-related tools;
  • reminders, watches, recaps, missed-message features, and related functionality;
  • user or guild context, including information intentionally saved for later retrieval;
  • automations and server configuration tools;
  • media resolving, processing, and embed or message design tools;
  • music playback and listening-related features;
  • Last.fm account linking, now-playing updates, and scrobbling;
  • translation, summarization, contextual assistance, and other AI-powered features;
  • message and user context menu actions; and
  • integrations with third-party services.

The Service may be installed in the following ways:

  1. Guild-installed application. A Discord server owner or authorized administrator may add ego to a Discord server and configure server-level features.
  2. User-installed application. An individual Discord user may install ego for their own use without requiring a server invitation or private-access approval.

Features available in user-installed and guild-installed contexts may differ. Some features may require a particular access tier, entitlement, usage allowance, Discord permission, server setting, or other eligibility condition.

3. Eligibility

You may use the Service only if you meet Discord's applicable age requirements, are permitted to use Discord under Discord's terms and policies, and are legally able to enter into these Terms under applicable law.

If you use the Service on behalf of a Discord server, organization, or another person, you represent that you have authority to accept these Terms and manage the Service for that server, organization, or person.

4. Discord Rules and Permissions

Your use of ego must comply with Discord's applicable Terms of Service, Community Guidelines, Developer Policies, and other rules or policies that apply to your use of Discord.

Installing ego in a server does not give ego access beyond the permissions, scopes, channels, interactions, and information Discord makes available to the application. Server owners and administrators are responsible for reviewing requested permissions during installation and configuring ego appropriately for their server.

You are responsible for ensuring that your use of ego, including automations, saved context, message processing, music playback, and AI features, is appropriate for the Discord spaces in which you use it.

5. Access Tiers, Entitlements, and Feature Limits

Certain features may be restricted by access tier, entitlement, usage allowance, rate limit, account status, server configuration, or other eligibility criteria.

We may add, remove, change, limit, or condition features, usage allowances, access tiers, and eligibility requirements. Access to a feature does not guarantee that it will remain available indefinitely.

You must not circumvent, attempt to circumvent, or assist another person in circumventing access controls, usage limits, entitlement checks, rate limits, or feature restrictions.

6. Acceptable Use

You may use the Service only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms.

You must not use, or attempt to use, the Service to:

  • violate applicable law, regulation, court order, or third-party rights;
  • violate Discord's terms, policies, or technical restrictions;
  • harass, threaten, impersonate, defame, exploit, or harm another person;
  • process, collect, disclose, or retain another person's content or personal information without appropriate authority;
  • use automations, watches, reminders, context tools, or identity/history features to stalk, surveil, or target another person;
  • send spam, create unwanted bulk activity, manipulate Discord interactions, or facilitate deceptive conduct;
  • interfere with the Service, Discord, third-party services, or other users' access to them;
  • use bots, scripts, scraping, automation, or other methods to generate abusive, excessive, or unauthorized requests;
  • bypass or attempt to bypass rate limits, security controls, feature restrictions, access requirements, or technical safeguards;
  • gain or attempt to gain unauthorized access to accounts, servers, systems, data, credentials, or application interfaces;
  • reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or attempt to derive source code from the Service, except where applicable law expressly permits that activity;
  • distribute malware, harmful code, phishing content, or deceptive links;
  • infringe intellectual-property, privacy, publicity, or other rights;
  • use AI-powered features to create, facilitate, or distribute unlawful, harmful, deceptive, abusive, rights-infringing, or privacy-invasive content;
  • configure AI instructions, system prompts, or similar settings to bypass safety controls, facilitate unlawful activity, or cause ego to violate Discord's policies; or
  • use music, media, or content-resolving functionality in a manner that infringes rights, bypasses platform restrictions, or violates applicable third-party terms.

7. Your Content and Responsibilities

You may submit or make available content through the Service, including command inputs, messages, saved context, notes, tags, configurations, prompts, media links, and other information (“User Content”).

You retain any rights you have in your User Content. You grant ego a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to process, store, reproduce, transmit, modify, and display User Content only as reasonably necessary to operate, secure, maintain, support, and provide the Service and the features you request.

You represent that:

  • you have the rights, permissions, and authority necessary to provide User Content to the Service;
  • your use of User Content with the Service complies with applicable law, Discord's rules, and third-party terms; and
  • you will not submit content that violates these Terms.

You are responsible for the content you choose to submit, save, share, process, or cause ego to process. This includes content submitted to AI features, media features, music features, automations, and personal-context features.

8. AI-Powered Features

Some features use external AI or model providers to provide requested functionality, such as answering questions, translating, summarizing, explaining, or transforming content.

AI output may be inaccurate, incomplete, unsuitable, or unavailable. You are responsible for reviewing AI-generated output before relying on, sharing, acting on, or using it. AI output is not professional legal, medical, financial, safety, or other regulated advice.

You must not use AI-powered features to create, facilitate, or distribute unlawful, harmful, deceptive, abusive, rights-infringing, or privacy-invasive content.

AI functionality is invoked through a user action or feature request. Only content reasonably necessary to perform the requested AI feature may be sent to an external AI or model provider. ego does not claim that every Discord message is sent to an AI provider.

9. Custom AI Configuration

Authorized server administrators or users may be able to configure custom system prompts, instructions, behavioral rules, or similar AI settings for eligible features. These settings may influence AI responses within their configured context.

ego does not individually review, approve, endorse, or guarantee every user-created AI configuration or resulting AI output. Users and server administrators are responsible for ensuring that their configurations comply with applicable law, Discord's policies, third-party rights, privacy requirements, and these Terms.

Custom AI configuration may not be used to bypass ego's safety controls, access controls, technical restrictions, or rate limits. AI output influenced by custom configuration does not represent ego's views or endorsement.

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, ego is not responsible for user-created instructions, configurations, or outcomes caused by them. Nothing in this section excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, including mandatory rights that apply to you.

10. Music, Media, and Last.fm Features

Music and media features may use track metadata, requester identity, playback state, voice-state information, external media sources, and other information necessary to provide the requested feature.

You are responsible for using music, media, and content-resolving features in compliance with applicable law and the terms of the relevant content provider. ego does not grant rights to copyrighted works or third-party content.

If you link and verify a Last.fm account with ego, ego may submit now-playing information and eligible scrobbles to Last.fm on your behalf when you use eligible music functionality. You may unlink your Last.fm account through available Service controls or by contacting us at contact@ego.skin.

11. Third-Party Services and Content

The Service may interact with third-party platforms and services, including Discord, Last.fm, external media or content services, AI/model providers, infrastructure providers, storage providers, content delivery providers, and analytics or monitoring providers where applicable.

Third-party services are governed by their own terms, privacy policies, availability, and practices. ego is not responsible for third-party services, their content, or their handling of data. Your use of a third-party service through ego may also be subject to that third party's terms.

The Service may provide links, previews, references, or access to third-party content. Such content is provided for convenience and does not mean ego endorses it.

12. Intellectual Property

The Service, including its software, design, branding, text, interfaces, features, and underlying intellectual property, is owned by or licensed to ego and is protected by applicable law.

Subject to these Terms, ego grants you a limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the Service for its intended purpose.

Except as expressly permitted by these Terms or applicable law, you may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, lease, sublicense, publicly display, or create derivative works from the Service.

ego and related branding may not be used in a way that implies endorsement, affiliation, or ownership without prior permission.

13. Service Changes and Experimental Features

We may change, suspend, remove, replace, or limit any part of the Service. This includes features, commands, integrations, access tiers, limits, and supported platforms.

Some features may be identified as beta, preview, experimental, or otherwise unfinished. Experimental features may contain errors, change materially, be discontinued, or have reduced reliability.

14. Availability

The Service is provided over the internet and through third-party platforms. We do not guarantee uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or always-available operation.

The Service may be unavailable because of maintenance, updates, outages, Discord changes, third-party service disruptions, capacity limits, security events, or circumstances outside our reasonable control.

15. Suspension and Termination

We may suspend, restrict, or terminate access to some or all of the Service if we reasonably believe that:

  • you violated these Terms, Discord's rules, or applicable law;
  • your use creates a security, legal, operational, or reputational risk;
  • you abuse or attempt to circumvent feature limits, entitlements, or rate limits;
  • we are required to do so by law, a valid legal request, or a platform requirement; or
  • continued access is no longer practical or appropriate.

You may stop using the Service at any time. Removing a guild-installed application from a server or removing a user-installed application ends future access through that installation, but does not necessarily delete retained data immediately. See the Privacy Policy for information about retention and deletion requests.

16. Disclaimer of Warranties

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the Service is provided “as is” and “as available.”

ego makes no warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, accuracy, availability, reliability, or that the Service will meet your requirements.

We do not guarantee that outputs from AI features, information features, media features, identity/history features, third-party integrations, or other functionality are complete, accurate, current, or suitable for a particular use.

17. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, ego will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, data, goodwill, business opportunity, or use, arising out of or related to the Service or these Terms.

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, ego's total liability for claims arising out of or related to the Service or these Terms will not exceed the amount you paid directly to ego for the Service during the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, including mandatory consumer rights that apply to you.

18. Indemnification

To the extent permitted by applicable law, you agree to indemnify ego against claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses, including reasonable legal fees, arising from or related to:

  • your use or misuse of the Service;
  • your User Content;
  • your violation of these Terms, Discord's policies, applicable law, or third-party rights; or
  • your use of the Service on behalf of a server, organization, or other person without appropriate authority.

19. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Poland.

Nothing in these Terms limits consumer-protection, privacy, or other mandatory rights that apply to you under applicable law. Where applicable law gives you the right to bring a claim in a particular court or under mandatory local law, these Terms do not restrict that right.

20. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The updated version will be posted at https://ego.skin/tos with a revised “Last updated” date.

Your continued use of the Service after updated Terms take effect means that you accept the updated Terms. If you do not agree to the updated Terms, you must stop using the Service.
